Download Boethius

Current version 0.1.0-alpha.2026-09-15 — Alpha

Do you want to create an account?

Is an account required to download?

No! You do not need an account to download Boethius!

Then why should I create an account?

Boethius is now free, but might not be free forever. Our intent (this is an intent, not a promise) is to offer Boethius free “forever” (by “forever” we mean “for as long as we can without shooting ourselves in the foot”) to early users. Only by creating an account will we know that you are an early user. So, if you want to get future versions/downloads of Boethius for free, you should create an account.

If I create an account, will you do annoying stuff with my contact information?

We will probably email you sparingly (maybe once a month?) to let you know about updates and new products — and only if you tick the box asking for it when you sign up. We won't sell your data to anyone.

I'm in! I'll create an account.

Takes a minute. Email, a password, and what you want to be called.

No thanks, just let me download.

Free, and free for commercial use. You'll be able to read the licence, and asked to agree to it, before you download.

Formats

macOS

I have read and agree to the Boethius End User Licence Agreement.

Current · 0.1.0-alpha.2026-09-15macOS Installer — Apple silicon and IntelOne installer places every format: standalone, CLAP, VST®3, AUv2 and AUv3. To finish installing the AUv3 version, open the standalone Boethius app in your Applications folder once. Signed and notarised by Apple, so it opens without a warning.

Previous releases

Most people want the current release above.

macOS Installer · 0.1.0-alpha.2026-09-05

Windows

I have read and agree to the Boethius End User Licence Agreement.

Current · 0.1.0-alpha.2026-09-15Windows Installer — Windows 10 and 11, 64-bitOne installer places every format: standalone, CLAP and VST3. Installs for your user only, so it needs no administrator rights. Not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen will warn the first time it runs: choose More info, then Run anyway. The panel uses Microsoft's WebView2 Runtime, which Windows normally already has.

Boethius is pre-release and unfinished. It is free of charge and free for commercial use, with no royalty — see the licence for what that does and does not include.
